EUnetCCC Task 8.2.2 presents the Cancer Prevention Hub Framework at IARC 60
June 01, 2026
In May 2026, EUnetCCC Task 8.2.2 – Personalised Primary and Secondary Prevention was represented at the IARC 60 Conference in Lyon with the scientific poster “Implementing Evidence-Based Personalised Cancer Prevention in Comprehensive Cancer Centres: The EUnetCCC Cancer Prevention Hub Framework.”
The poster presented the work developed within Task 8.2.2 on the Cancer Prevention Hub model, a structured and adaptable framework designed to support the integration of evidence-based cancer prevention into routine activities of Comprehensive Cancer Centres.
The model highlights the role of CCCs not only in cancer diagnosis and treatment, but also in prevention, risk assessment, personalised prevention pathways and referral to appropriate screening or support services. The framework is built around three layers of prevention: the implementation of the European Code Against Cancer, 5th edition (ECAC5) to foster a shared prevention culture; risk evaluation and risk-stratified assessment through short and accessible tools; and advanced personalised prevention and screening pathways for individuals at higher risk.
The model also specifically considers patients, informal caregivers and accompanying relatives as important target groups for prevention activities.
This participation increased the international visibility of EUnetCCC prevention activities and provided an opportunity to share the Task 8.2.2 approach with experts working in cancer prevention, public health and implementation science. It also supports the task’s ongoing work to move from concept development towards practical implementation of prevention activities within CCC workflows. In parallel, the task continues to finalise risk-factor tools, including frameworks, checklists and brochures, which will feed into the broader Cancer Prevention Hub framework and future publications.
