From screening to implementation: T8.2.7 advances the Survivorship Care Hub in Brussels
September 29, 2026
On 17–18 September 2026, partners from EUnetCCC Task 8.2.7 – Cancer Survivorship met at Cliniques universitaires Saint-Luc in Brussels for the task’s third Survivorship Teaming Activity.
The two-day meeting marked an important step in moving from the development of individual survivorship components towards their integration into a common Survivorship Care Hub and Implementation Framework (IF-SurvHub) for Comprehensive Cancer Centres.
Representatives from participating CCCs, Thematic Working Groups and patient perspectives worked together on key components of the survivorship pathway, including screening and needs assessment, risk stratification, supportive care, rehabilitation and prehabilitation, psycho-oncology, late effects and follow-up and social, financial and vocational support.
A central objective of Task 8.2.7 is to bring these elements together into one coordinated survivorship pathway, from diagnosis through treatment and long-term survivorship, supported by appropriate navigation and referral mechanisms. The Brussels meeting also strengthened collaboration with other European initiatives.
Follow-up work is now underway with JANE-2, particularly around Survivorship Care Plans, late effects and complementary models of survivorship care. Another concrete development emerging from the meeting is the work of the social, financial and vocational TWG towards creating a network of clinical social workers from European CCCs.
The network is intended to provide practical feedback on the tools developed by the task and help ensure that recommendations can be translated into everyday clinical practice.
With the Brussels Teaming completed, Task 8.2.7 will now continue consolidating the IF-SurvHub and the outputs of its Thematic Working Groups, ahead of the EUnetCCC Annual Meeting in Lisbon and the next Survivorship Teaming Activity planned in Luxembourg in 2027.
